Discovery PICO uses the most advanced laser technology for the treatment of pigmentation, aged skin, and tattoo removal. Standing out differently from the traditional Q-Switched lasers that breaks down the pigmented particles in granules, Discovery PICO works in picosecond pulses, fragments the particles in a really thin “dust” and breaks up melanin and pigment particles.
The procedure is safe, simple, comfortable and fast. The skin will be cleansed prior to the treatment and laser-protective goggles are positioned over the eyes. The laser beam will be directed towards the area of concern, heating the deeper layers of the skin.
Discovery PICO is indicated for the use
- Skin rejuvenation
- Pigmentation – The melanin pigment absorbs the laser energy and will lighten with each treatment.
- Hair Lightening
- Tattoo Removal – The laser treatment can help to lighten the tattoo gradually. Certain ink pigments are easier to remove compared to the rest. The easiest are the dark blue or black ink, while red, yellow and green are more difficult. Also, it is easier to remove old tattoo than those new and fresh ones.
How it works
Laser pulses generate a pure photoacoustic effect which targets the pigments without affecting the surrounding tissues.
Many people describe the feeling of the Discovery PICO on their skin as a tingling sensation. This procedure requires no anesthetic. However, your doctor may prescribe some pre-medication or numbing cream to minimise any discomfort. The laser procedure is fast and may result in mild to moderate redness, which usually fades within an hour after treatment. During this period, it is important to apply a light coat of moisturiser and sunblock over the treated areas, and to avoid any sun exposure.
*Treatment is conducted by certified doctor.
