Sculptra (Liquid Facelift)
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable filler that helps gradually replace lost collagen — an underlying cause of facial ageing — for results that can last more than two years. It is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds. As the effects of Sculptra is gradual and subtle, dramatic improvement should not be expected immediately after treatment.
How it works
One of the primary reasons for visible facial ageing is the loss of collagen, a fibrous protein in the deep dermis that gives structure to skin and supports the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Elastin is an elastic protein that maintains skin shape, while HA cushions and lubricates to keep the skin hydrated. More collagen enables the presence of more elastin and HA.
Sculptra works differently from other facial fillers. It is a unique collagen-replenishing treatment that when injected, works with your body to rebuild lost collagen for a more youthful appearance.
As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, Sculptra works with your body within the deep dermis, rather than topically, to help revitalise collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. As the Sculptra PLLA micro-particles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds. Its effects work subtly and gradually over time, and can last for up to 2 years.
Sculptra treats most area of your face that may be of concern to you, particularly deeper lines, wrinkles and folds — hence it is known as a “liquid facelift” treatment.
